Korina creates a very warm and bright sound, whereas the regular Explorer is made of mahogany, which will produce a deeper tone. If you're into aggressive rock, you'll probably like the mahogany. If you prefer a more mid-rangy highly-resonant tone, then the Korina is awesome! In either case, it boils down to what YOU prefer. In my own case, the Korina Explorer serves a specific tonal range that I need in my more "rock" songs, as it sits right in the middle between my ES-335 and Strat, which I use for blues pieces. But whatever you decide to go with, the Explorer is a great guitar - and you just can't argue with the price!
