Nice post! I'm a "new breed" attenuator junkie myself. I know there are skeptics, but the technology has evolved quite a bit past the run-of-the-mill attenuators available up to now.

Let's face it, old-style attenuators just stick some sort of fixed resistance between your amp and cab, and then bleed off a signal to feed your speakers. The "new breed" seeks to duplicate the reactive curve of an actual speaker. Letting your amp "see" that curve is what keeps the tone intact.

I understand the skeptics, though. We've all heard these promises before. Frankly, after trying so many setups and devices designed to give that cranked tone at sane volumes, I wouldn't have thought it possible until I heard it with my own ears.
