Yeah, I know, this is a bit of a long time in coming, but I actually got REALLY sick there for awhile, and was sidelined for a few weeks. But as I say in the video, “Better late than never.” In this particular clip, Doug shares a bit of wisdom on choosing gear that’s right for YOU. I’ve been a big proponent of that on this blog, and it was affirming to hear Doug speak along these lines. Here’s the video:

That is Funny… I got that yellow DOD pedal given to me and thought cool, I can trade if for something decent or mod it so it sounds good. I plugged it in and it sounded GREAT. So I thought, someone already modded this, at which point I had to open it up to see what they did.. It actually doesn’t appear to have been modded… So now it’s in the stable with other pedals ranging up to $475 and I actually like that pedal more than my $475 pedal.. (probably because of the bang for the buck mentality)
I had that pedal for a long time, but really didn’t know how to really use it properly, so I gave it away. Ouch! 🙂 At the time, hell! It was still a cheap pedal, so I didn’t think anything about parting with it. Same goes for that ugly mustard MXR distortion from back in the 80’s. I think I actually still have that in one of my milk crates. 🙂
