After a minor scare last week with my heart and circulation and worrying about how long I’ll be able to play guitar, I went to the doctor and was relieved to find out that I didn’t have a heart attack – just a strong arrhythmia. It was enough to scare me, and I’m now back to taking my heart meds and am feeling like a million bucks!
As far as the hand numbness goes, thanks go to Isaac Priestly for recommending fish oil pills for good joint health! Not only are fish oil pills great for joint health, they’re also great for promoting good heart health with the Omega 3 Fatty Acids! I’ve been taking them for over a week now, and I’m starting to lose the numbness. It’s still there, but nowhere near the amount it was. Turns out that I’m developing a bit of carpel tunnel syndrome from playing so much, so the doctor is prescribing a set of splints that I’ll wear at night to immobilize my hands while I sleep.
It’s all good now!
In other news, I’m considering buying a PRS Soapbar SE II from a friend of mine. Anyone have any input on it? I haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but will hopefully get a chance soon. I guess that’s really the deciding factor.
That is great news, GD! I remember how worried I was when in a similar position.
It’s a great feeling being able to play again! Glad you’re doing better.
Man, my bass player had the same thing, an arrhythmia. And, we were scared at first that he had a heart attack too. Glad you’re better bro!

I’m glad to head that this has turned out for the best. Take care of yourself! (and I’ll try to listen to my own advice for once).
Glad to hear that you’re doing better! Those PRS SE soapbars look really nice. I haven’t played one, yet, but I’ve been looking at them online now for a few weeks. I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts once you’ve got a chance to actually play it.
You know, all the warm regards I’ve received make me feel really good. I consider all you folks as friends and comrades in arms (as we all wield our axes). Thank you so much! Now if I can only work out these latest licks… 🙂
Good news!

Good news! I take fish oil also – it does do a body good! Anyway, about the PRS soapbars… I never played an SE, although the hollow soapy looks like one heck of a value- But, I do own a PRS Custom 22 soapbar. If they are the same pickups, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Mine are made by Seymour Duncan for PRS. The SE doesnt have a center pickup, so I’ll only discuss the neck and bridge. The cool thing about these pickups is how expressive they are by just adjusting your right hand attack. Play gently and they’re clean and sparkly, -dig in and they begin begin to snarl like (think Billy Gibbons…) -which makes this guitar extremely fun to play. You can get some nice bluesy strat tones from the neck, the bridge sounds more like a fat tele to me, almost like a barden with a little more snarl. If there is a downside, they are noisy when you’re not playing – but its the nature of the beast- Kinda like driving a ’55 Chevy street rod – you’re not going to ask if it has air bags and anti-lock brakes….
Tweed, very cool. I’ve got re-issue vintage Tex Mex pups in my Strat, and they’re a bit noisy when not played, but then again, that’s also the nature of the beast with a Strat, so a little noise won’t kill me. 🙂
Still looking forward to borrowing the Soapbar…
I think you’ll have a hard time beating the value in Fun-per-dollar with the Soapy – good luck. You may want to check out Mike Ault’s video with PRS himself demonstrating the soapy SE on youtube. Mike is a great player and really makes that thing sing… PS. A buddy of mine has a RI 62 strat, and I believe it has the same Tex Mex pups as yours – great choice, and hotter than a Texas Bar-B-Q!
I’m glad you are fine!!!!
I’ve heard very good things about the whole SE series by PRS, considering the price (I hope I can try one soon).
The soapbars are always sweet IMO, for the Fender-like effect on the bridge pickup and the Gibson-like effect on neck pickup most of all, and… well… it’s not “very important” but… they look cool… hehe.
Ciao!
Andre

Thanks, Crash!!! God certainly provides wonderful inspiration! I’m actually working on my next two CD’s – one praise, and one about the journey of our relationships through life. The second is tough because I’ve never really done a thematically cohesive project like this, but again, it’s divine inspiration guiding me, so I’ll just trust in the process.
And yes, I got a hold of Adam, and will be doing a write-up on Saint Guitars. He’s a really cool guy! Can’t wait to get my hands on one of those to see for myself how it sounds… 🙂
