Aracom Amps has just posted a page on their site which features Gene Baker – luthier of the famed Baker Guitars and now of Fine Tuned Instruments producing “B3” guitars – demonstrating the transparency of the Aracom PRX150-Pro Attenuator at various attenuation levels.
Gene has also provided commentary on the recording and how no EQ adjustments were made to the amp – even down to bedroom levels! This is a re-affirmation of what I’ve been saying all along about this awesome device! The PRX150-Pro simply retains the tone you work hard for – no matter how much attenuate your signal; and more importantly eliminating the need to compensate with EQ.

Having someone like Gene Baker demonstrate the capabilities of the PRX150-Pro is huge! Gene is an incredible guitarist!
Holy cow! Thanks for sharing the link! Gene Baker’s tone, dynamics, and overall playing were amazing. So that is what a raw, fully cranked tube amp is supposed to sound like, huh? Based on that clip, I’d say the PRX-150 Pro certainly lives up to its promise. Can’t wait for the video clip!
I’ll be interviewing Gene sometime next week, and will include in my interview questions to get his insights on the PRX150-Pro. I’ve been using it for awhile now, and simply love the fact that I can get my fully cranked up tone – even at conversation levels! It’s amazing! But that said, there’s a lot to be said about a speaker moving air as well, so turning down too low takes the speaker too much out of the equation. It’s not so much that you lose your tone, but the speaker cone certainly adds texture.
I know Gene Baker and he is an amazing person. GIT grad, worked at Gibson and Fender Custom Shop, founder of the original Baker guitars, founder of the current b3 electric guitars, awesome player and you could not meet a nicer person. If you are thinking about getting a custom electric guitar, give Gene a call.
