When I wrote my original announcement of the Skull Crusher, it was absolutely brand new, and not surprising at all, it was met with a mixed response. But as I mentioned in my announcement, get beyond the looks, and this pedal is a KASHA overdrive with an EQ knob, and I LOVE how that sounds. Apparently, so do the guys from Ratt, as shown in this video taken over the weekend at the Jack FM 2009 concert in southern California this past weekend:
And here’s a video of the VERY talented PhilX playing the Skull Crusher live and doing a demo in the studio:
Lots of guys panned the look of the pedal, but I think it looks incredible! And knowing that it has the absolutely wonderful KASHA overdrive guts makes this pedal a winner in my book.
Is it possible to get these videos as MP3’s? I would like to burn them and listen to them on CD’s

The -‘Skull-Crusher” pedal design concept was never from “Tone-Box”.The concept was completely stolen by Shawn Crosby-the guy who supposedly claims he created the concept/design.The original concept came from an amp repairman and designer Jim Wigle who designed amps for Groove Tubes.I saw this concept pedal in it’s early stages first a few years prior before Crosby got his clammy hands on it asking about what it was for.Not only did he steal the pedal concept-he took the name too, because he isn’t genuine enough to think of anything on his own.Like most of what he touches. So he disposes a friendship in the end of financial gain-please don’t buy this pedal.
Interesting. I wonder why Jim Wigle didn’t bring it to market earlier? Also – and just playing devil’s advocate – do you know that Wigle didn’t just share it Crosby, not really caring about who builds it?
