Just when I think I’m strong, and have overcome my GAS, Gibson comes out with a new Les Paul that I just have to have. But that’s not what I’m hatin’ about… What I can’t stand is that they release teaser pictures then provide no information on it at all on the web site! They did this with the Green Widow, and they’ve done it yet again with their new “Gold Burst.” Dammit! Here’s the picture they posted on Facebook…
I’ve always loved goldtops, but I love bursts more, and to have both… OMG!!! I’m salivating! The gold hardware is awesome, and I dig the golden brown stain on the body back and sides, and that figured maple looks awesome!
Gibson, please release information on this – especially when you’re going to make available in stores!
Nice guitar, as always in Gibson !
Well, I can’t got my Gibson yet ( one day will be mine !!! ). So I decided to have my first Les Paul : a Epiphone LP Standard Tribute.
Do you know this guitar ?
In positive case, whats your thoughts about it ?
Cheers !!!
As Epiphone’s go, the Standard Tribute is a nice guitar. Very playable.
Me? I went for the Michael Kelly Patriot Custom on special for $388 at HelloMusic.com. http://www.hellomusic.com/ec/DealMain.aspx?did=14069 . An amazing guitar at an even more amazing price. See the specs for yourself…http://www.michaelkellyguitars.com/electric-guitar/patriot-custom . Unbelievable. My tech and I and others thought it sounded as good or better than a $2,500+ LP! Those Gibson decals must be pretty expensive. No other reason for their LPs to be that expensive. The coil taps enable you to get a nice Gibson or Fender vibe.
That is a nice-looking guitar! $388? Awesome!
I love getting this web link in my inbox. The gibson looks great. I have a cl 35 deluxe that I bought when I was 17 yrs old. I played the gibson factory about 8 yrs ago and they tried to buy it from me but I passed.. Thanks again for this site..
So cool! And thanks for the warm regards!
Maybe some day I too will check out a true Gibson Les Paul, I have only one Gibson and that is an SG Faded, which is a moderate priced SG. I now have 2 Epiphone LP’s, a Traditonal Pro and the Joe Bonamassa signature Gold Top. These two are great for me and I have my eye on either Cherry ‘burst Epi LP Standard Pro or another Epi Traditional Pro.
Maybe when I sneak away to Guitar Center to check out the Epi’s I will also try out a Gibson LP to see if I can feel and hear the difference. I might have to wait till closer to Christmas so my wife might not protest as much ( It’ll be the last one Honey, I promise, LOL)
Do you know the Gibson 57’s pickups that is part of the Epiphone Standard Tribute ?
Watching and listening at youtube my opinion that they are very good, but I don’t know if they have a high or moderate gain
I’ve not experienced the Gibson 57’s but I have heard of them from traversing the web. The Pickups on a Epiphone Traditional Pro are – Neck pickup: Epiphone Alnico Classic humbucker; Bridge pickup: Epiphone ProBucker-3 humbucker. The Epiphone Standard Plus Top has ProBucker-2’s and Probucker-3’s and both guitars feature coil-tapping thru the tone controls.

The Epiphone Joe Bonamassa Tribute Les Paul Goldtop I have actually has the Gibson BurstBucker-2’s & BurstBucker-3’s in it and they are really hot and very bright.

Keep Rockin’
Hi Stephen !
Sorry by the late answer … Terrible, my fault
Well, I don’t know ( yet ) the Gibson 57’s pickups. I also listen and watching on internet about. But I liked really much what I saw !
This guitar comes with 57′ classic on neck position with moderate gain and 57′ classic plus on bridge position with high gain.
A luthier here in my town who indicated this pickups. And he have a lot of credits with me because of others suggestions, hehehe. And the specs of the Epi Tribute 1960 LP make me decided to buy ! I think they are very closely to a Gibson ( well, I know of Gibson is Gibson and Fender is Fender, doesn’t exist anything else better, in my opinion ). But this is the best what my money can closer to a Gibson, hehehe !
Cheers !
that goldtop is sweeeeet! Really love the wood grains
